Daniel Lapin, regarded by some as the Christian Right's favorite rabbi, will speak on "America's Judeo-Christian Heritage: Primitive Relic Obstructing Progress or Vital Heart of Our Culture," sponsored by Florida International University's innovative Center for the Study of Spirituality.

The event, free and open to the public, will take place at 7:30 p.m. on October 24, 2006, at Central Bible Assemblies of God Church, 1300 SW 87th Street, located 1.5 miles south of SR 836.

Lapin, a noted rabbinic scholar and host of the Toward Tradition Radio Show, is one of America's most outspoken voices fighting institutions of secular fundamentalism that, he says, foster anti-Semitism and anti-Christianism, harm families, erode wealth, divide the nation, and ultimately jeopardize the future of America.

"Rabbi Daniel Lapin's work is focused on stimulating and developing constructive dialogue based on shared values, which stem from spirituality and faith," said John D. Nardone, a member of the Center's Community Advisory Board who arranged for the visit. "Although Christianity and Judaism are notably different in practice, they share core values that are based on the Tanakh, or the Jewish Bible."

Nardone continued: "Rabbi Lapin has emerged as a leading bridge-builder and advocate for Judeo-Christian values in the areas of family, faith, and the marketplace. In the light of domestic and international affairs, his perspective is especially timely, and will be a blessing for Jews and Christians alike."

Before immigrating to the United States in 1973, Rabbi Lapin had studied theology, physics, economics, and mathematics in Johannesburg, London, and Jerusalem. This seemingly unlikely combination forms the bedrock of his conviction that no conflict exists between physical and spiritual, virtue and strength, or faith and wealth.  He quickly became persuaded that God continues to smile on the United States of America and he became a naturalized citizen on what he describes as the proudest day of his life.

Lapin is well known for his outspoken views that America has become history's most successful engine of tranquility, prosperity, and power because of its traditional Judeo-Christian culture. He insists that these traditional values are vital for our nation's survival.

Marketplace Renewal International and Kingdom Marketplace Alliance, as well as the Central Bible AG Church, in cooperation with FIU's Center for the Study of Spirituality, make Rabbi Lapin's talk possible. For special seating requests or other questions, please contact rabbi@trinityi.org.

In a provocative and entertaining presentation, Rabbi Daniel Lapin pulverizes popular prejudices and projects a laser-beam of clarity onto Judeo-Christian values and their unmistakable role in the sculpting of American civilization.  Without losing his humor, Rabbi Lapin suggests that much of the ‘good life’ we take for granted is here on account of Biblical principles woven into western thought.  Not everyone agrees with him, but nobody finds his arguments boring. We expect a lively Q & A session following his presentation!
